With Renan Barao out of next month's UFC 161 event due to a torn ligament in his foot, the UFC has promoted the light heavyweight bout between Rashad Evans and Dan Henderson to the Winnipeg card's main event.
The organization announced the switch on Tuesday afternoon.
Both Henderson and Evans are entering the main event off of losses; Henderson to Lyoto Machida by split decision in February which snapped a significant winning streak for the final Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champ, and Evans to Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in his second straight loss at UFC 156.
The event takes place from the MTS Centre on June 15, the UFC's first ever event in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Penick's Analysis: They've made the best of a bad situation here. It's not ideal to have two fighters off a loss headlining a pay-per-view, but they're both former Champions and known names, so that's all they can do at this point. There weren't too many other options given what they've got to fill this summer, and honestly this is a better fight than the Rich Franklin-Wanderlei Silva bout that had to headline last June's Brazil pay-per-view after injuries.
