Renan Barao is officially out of next month's UFC 161 pay-per-view event in Winnipeg, as the UFC's Canadian Twitter account announced his injury removal on Tuesday.
Injury forces Barao from title bout at #UFC161. Stay tuned for more card news.
With the message to "stay tuned" for more news on the card, they may be searching for a new fight to headline the event, but nothing more is known at this point.
Penick's Analysis: This is just confirmation and what was expected. Barao was reportedly set to see doctors on Monday to find out how bad it was, and if that's how it played out he was indeed told he couldn't continue. It's unfortunate, but now the attention turns to what the UFC can find to put in here, and whether or not that's the route they go.
