After stepping in as an injury replacement for next month's UFC on FX 8 card in Brazil, Chris Camozzi now has a new opponent himself. It was reported over the weekend by Brazilian site Tatame.com that Camozzi's opponent, "Ultimate Fighter: Brazil" winner Cezar "Mutante" Ferreira, has now suffered an injury himself.
Camozzi, who stepped in when C.B. Dollaway came up injured despite having fought just last month at UFC 158, will now face off against Rafael Natal. Camozzi's fine with the switch, writing on his personal website that it doesn't matter to him against whom he competes.
"I dont care who I fight, I'm just looking to build my record and make money for my new family and show the UFC they can count on me when they need me," Camozzi said. "Even though this is called a 'short notice' fight, I still feel as though six weeks gives me enough time to get ready for Natal. I'm a fighter with the UFC and I'm paid to fight who they give me!"
Camozzi's won four straight in the UFC heading into the May 18 event, while Natal steps up on six week's notice off a bounce-back submission win over UFC newcomer Sean Spencer at UFC on Fox 6 in January.
The May 18 card will air live on FX from Jaragua do Sul, Brazil, headlined by a middleweight bout between Vitor Belfort and Luke Rockhold.
