By Wade Keller, MMATorch supervising editor
A smiling, gracious Brock Lesnar was interviewed at courtside during last month's Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Boston Celtics game at Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn. Here's a belated transcript:

-How does it feel to be heavyweight champion: "First, I'm honored to be at the Timberwolves game. And that sounds really good; I'm glad and excited to be the heavyweight champion."

-After NCAA, WWE, the Vikings, and now UFC, so what's next: "Didn't you hear, I'm trying out for the Timberwolves next (laughs). No, absolutely not. Next spring I'll be defended the heavyweight title against either Frank Mir or Minatauro Noguiera. Right now I'm just taking a little time, enjoying some free time, enjoying the Wolves."

-On whether he's especially rooting for fellow South Dakota Native, Timberwolf Mike Miller: "Yes, I'm a fan of his. I'm also a huge fan of the Timberwolves. I must admit I'm a fan of [former Wolf] K.G."

-On his stitches: "Can you zoom in? I got five of 'em courtesy of Randy Couture."

About a half hour later, with the Wolves down 22 points at the start of the fourth quarter, announcer Jim Petersen said: "I wouldn't mind seeing Brock Lesnar put on a Wolves uniform at this point."

Keller's Analysis: Okay, so no news there or anything (I saved it on my DVR because I meant to do a little write-up on it, then forgot about it), but he came across as the nicest person in the world. If he can earn the respect of MMA fans and downplay his heelish persona that's he's been playing early on, he showed here he could be an articulate, personable, likable lead representative of the sport. Now if he can just stop walking away from interviews when he doesn't like certain tiresome questions, he'll be just fine.
