"Once I signed with Strikeforce, at that point, it was basically in the past because Strikeforce is under the Zuffa banner and so everything that happened in the past stayed there. There's no hard feelings going forward and I'm grateful for the opportunity and I plan on making the most of it... It was a tough time for sure. First, we signed with BAMMA and had some trouble there with the fight [that] kept getting postponed. And then we had the opportunity to get out of the contract to come over to Strikeforce, so we took it."
Penick's Analysis: His return to Zuffa with Strikeforce wound up being the perfect thing for Marquardt. He was out of action for over a year after his release, so he's done his time out of the TRT debacle. He took a rightful hit from a PR perspective, but he can turn things around still as he looks to re-enter the UFC. A win over Tarec Saffiedine will continue to affirm his stature as a top flight welterweight, and he'll enter the UFC with an opportunity to make a run to another UFC title shot.
