Michael Chiesa, winner of The Ultimate Fighter's first and only live season earlier this year, was supposed to make his first appearance since the show earlier this month at UFC on Fox 5 in his home state of Washington. Unfortunately, he fell ill a little over a week before the event, and was pulled from a bout against Marcus LeVesseur.
LeVesseur would ultimately step in on 24-hours notice to face Abel Trujillo on that card, losing by TKO in the second round.
Chiesa will now return in February at UFC 157, and he's got a new opponent after LeVesseur's loss to Trujillo. The UFC announced on Wednesday that Chiesa will take on Finnish lightweight Anton Kuivanen at UFC 157 in Anaheim, Calif.
Kuivanen enters the event after winning his first fight in the UFC, bouncing back from a loss in his UFC debut to defeat Mitch Clarke by split decision at UFC 149 in Calgary.
In addition to that fight, the UFC confirmed that a heavyweight bout between Lavar Johnson and Brendan Schaub, initially scheduled for UFC on Fox 5, has also been moved to the UFC 157 event in Anaheim.
That historic card will be headlined by the first-ever women's bout in UFC history, as Ronda Rousey will put the UFC Women's Bantamweight Championship on the line against Liz Carmouche.
