On Wednesday, news broke that The Ultimate Fighter's 17th season will see the show move to Wednesday nights on FX in January. That came from Malki Kawa, manager of UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones - who is coaching said upcoming season - and was then confirmed by UFC President Dana White.
However, FX officials are now saying that may not be the case. In a comment made to MMAFighting.com, FX's Vice President of Media Relations, Dominic Pagone, refuted the reports, and said an announcement will be out in the coming weeks.
"FX has not announced the official date or night that the next installment of TUF will air, however, it is highly unlikely it will air Wednesday nights," said Pagone. "The official announcement will be coming in the next two or three weeks."
Penick's Analysis: It's entirely possible the Wednesday date was floated out in the media purposefully, considering Bellator and Spike TV have also not officially announced their new night or timeslot for when Bellator debuts on the network in January. They could have easily thrown the Wednesday slot out there to see what Bellator would do, but for now, we'll have to await an official announcement from the network in the next couple of weeks. Tuesday or Wednesday still seems like the likely time.
