The UFC on FX 6 event now has a venue, as the UFC announced late Monday night that they will be heading to Queensland, Australia, for the first time for the December 15 event.
The event will take place from the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Broadbeach, a 6,000-seat venue in Queensland. This marks the UFC's first event outside of Sydney, with the last two events in Australia taking place from the Allphones Arena (formerly Acer Arena).
The event is going to play host to the finals of "The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes," the Team Australia vs. Team UK edition of the long-running reality show that began this past week. In addition to announcing the venue, the UFC also revealed that the coaches for the second international edition of the series will headline the night's card.
With Ross Pearson vs. George Sotiropoulos moving to the top slot, the previously assumed headliner between Hector Lombard and Rousimar Palhares will now take the second slot. Additionally, a previously reported bout between Krzysztof Soszynski and Ednaldo Oliveira has also been confirmed for the event.
Though it takes place live in Australia on December 15, the same day as The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale in the U.S., this event will air live in North America on Friday, December 14, due to the time difference.
