UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones was supposed to appear in court today in Binghamton, New York, for sentencing on a guilty plea to DWI charges from last month. However, according to a report from PressConnects.com, the sentencing has been delayed to July 3.

Jones plead guilty to misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, stemming from a May 19 arrest in Binghamton after he crashed his Bentley into a light pole. Jones had two passengers with him who suffered minor injuries, though he walked away unscathed.

He reached a plea agreement with the Broome County District Attorney's Office, and under it he'll face up to a $1,500 fine. He's expected to receive a "conditional discharge," and according to the report he'll also be required to install ignition interlock devices in his vehicles, pay restitution for damage, undergo a substance dependency evaluation, and attend a victim impact class.

The 24-year-old Champion will make his next title defense on Sept. 1 in Las Vegas, taking on Dan Henderson.

Penick's Analysis: This is a bit typical of the system with these types of cases. It's just a hearing moving back a couple weeks, but the hearing will be the same, and his plea deal will still be intact. This is a simple delay of the process, that's all.
