Hector Lombard's UFC debut is being treated as a very big deal by the organization, as Heavy.com reports that his bout with Brian Stann will headline the UFC on Fox 4 card in Los Angeles on August 4.
The bout was revealed earlier this week for the event, though it's place on the card wasn't yet known. As the headliner, Lombard's name goes from an MTV2 marquee in Bellator to what will be again one of the most heavily-viewed events in MMA.
Lombard's 25-fight unbeaten streak will be tested fiercely by Stann, who bested another highly regarded fighter coming into the UFC last summer in Jorge Santiago. Coming off his third TKO win in four fights, Stann will attempt to stop the Lombard train before it gets moving in the Octagon, and he'll do it in his highest profile slot to date.
Penick's Analysis: That's a huge leap in exposure for Lombard, and he'll get a chance to prove himself to a massive portion of the UFC's audience in his debut. For Stann, this is a big opportunity for him to move back up the ladder in the division, while getting the biggest spot on a card he's yet received in the UFC. It's a great fight, and will be a great main event as well.
