The UFC on Fox 4 event in Los Angeles has another bout for its main card on August 4, as the UFC announced late Monday night that heavyweights Ben Rothwell and Travis Browne will square off on the card.
Rothwell kept his streak of alternating wins and losses alive at UFC 145, bouncing back from a decision loss to Mark Hunt by knocking out Brendan Schaub in the first round. The win put him at 2-2 inside the Octagon.
Browne also scored a first round win at UFC 145, keeping his undefeated record intact with a dominant performance over Chad Griggs. He ended the bout with an arm triangle choke, but he also battered Griggs with strikes prior to the finish, notching his fourth UFC win.
Penick's Analysis: Most of the heavyweight division is booked for May, and both guys would have simply been on hand as injury replacements for any of those fights. This makes sense from a matchup and timing standpoint, and should be a good heavyweight display on this Fox card in Los Angeles, provided both fighters show up like they did in Atlanta, and not like they did in the altitude of Denver, Colo. last October at UFC 135.
