Saturday Night Wars: Silva/Sandman and 5 Other UFC Bouts Opposite Affliction
As expected, according to MMAJunkie.comthe July 19 free UFC show on Spike TV will be three hours long and feature six fights. Matches scheduled to air live are:
Anderson Silva vs James Irvin
Brandon Vera vs Reese Andy
Frankie Edgar vs Hermes Franca
CB Dalloway vs Jesse Taylor
Cain Velasquez vs Jake O'Brien
Anthony Johnson vs Kevin Burns
I will be watching Affliction live on PPV, but definitely DVRing this show. While not an event full of barnburners (at least on paper), the price is right, and all of the bouts have an attraction. Edgar vs Franca is a competitive match between skilled fighters. Dalloway vs Taylor has intrigue from The Ultimate Fighter. Velasquez and Rumble Johnson are both highly regarded prospects, particularly Velasquez--the UFC thinks he will be a heavyweight star. Silva and Vera's fights are showcase bouts, but their and their opponents' styles are such that the matches should be entertaining.
