A big fight between light heavyweight prospects is headed to UFC 123 in Detroit, as MMAJunkie.com reports that Tim Boetsch will meet Phil Davis on the night's card.

Both fighters last fought at UFC 117 in August, with Boetsch besting Todd Brown and Davis defeating Rodney Wallace, both by decision.

Boetsch was returning to the UFC after a number of wins outside of the organization. His first stint in the Octagon saw him go 2-2, and he was released after a decision loss to Jason Brilz.

Davis has now won his first three fights in the UFC, and the decorated college wrestling star now boasts an undefeated career record of 7-0.

UFC 123 is set to air live on pay-per-view from The Palace in Auburn Hills, just outside of Detroit, Mich. The event will be headlined by a light heavyweight bout between Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Lyoto Machida.

Penick's Analysis: I like this fight a lot. Boetsch has put together some violent finishes in his career, but has also found himself on the wrong end of fights more than a few times as well. Davis continues to impress and show off increasing skill to go along with his natural talents. This is a nice step up in competition here, and a win for either fighter definitely means something. Whether it's a preliminary card bout or a main card bout, it's going to be an enjoyable one.
