The UFC's first event on Versus has taken two more hits this week, as both Spencer Fisher and Rob Kimmons have come up injured and are out of the event according to multiple published reports. Fisher was scheduled to face Duane Ludwig on the card, while Kimmons was set to face off with Mike Pierce.

In Fisher's place steps 9-1 UFC newcomer Darren Elkins according to MMAWeekly.com. The bout will take place on the untelevised preliminary portion of the event. MMAJunkie.com reports that Pierce also draws a UFC newcomer as a replacement in Julio Paulino.

Paulino is a 17-3 professional that hasn't lost a fight since 2007. Riding a five fight win streak, he enters the UFC as the reigning Alaska Fighting Championships Middleweight Champion. Pierce faced off with welterweight contender Jon Fitch in his last bout in December, losing a unanimous decision. He enters this bout with a 10-3 record, 1-1 in the Octagon.

Penick's Analysis: It sucks to see Fisher off of this card, as he's always exciting to watch and the bout with Ludwig would have definitely been injured, but as has been proven time and time again, these injuries happen on a constant basis and not much can be done outside of the replacements the UFC finds to put these fights together. These replacement fights are solid for the undercard and could provide some good action for the fans in Colorado.
