Michael Rome at BloodyElbow.com is reporting on a strong source indicating the possibility of Chuck Liddell moving up to the heavyweight ranks to face Randy Couture for a fourth time in June of 2009. As we touched on here earlier this week, there were talks of a fight between Anderson Silva and Liddell taking place in February, but the low buyrate for UFC 90 coupled with the belief that Couture vs. Liddell will draw better on Pay Per View looks to negate that fight.

As Rome reports, the fight would be at heavyweight as Couture no longer wants to cut weight, as it is more difficult to do with his age. Also, Liddell's in a similar situation, as the weight cutting could be having more of an effect on him at his age. The fight will possibly be taking place in Germany, as supposedly the UFC would like Couture on that card due to him speaking the language. In the thin heavyweight division, there are considerations for the winner of this fight to face the Heavyweight Champion at the end of 2009.

Penick's Analysis: This fight is much more meaningful in the heavyweight division than it would have been at lightweight. This fight will also be an almost retribution fight for both guys, as Couture can avenge the last two losses to Liddell or Liddell can start anew at heavyweight. This is a much better fight for Liddell than the proposed Silva fight as well, and will clearly do better numbers on Pay Per View.
