Cameron Dollar will face his Team U.S. teammate Jason Dent on the Ultimate Fighter season nine finale next Saturday, June 20th. Dollar revealed the fight to MMATorch.com Thursday.
"I'm actually fighting Jason Dent...that's who I've been asked to fight...of course I said yes," Dollar stated.
The tension between these two built up throughout the season, with Dollar ultimately stating to the coaches and Dana White that Dent was the fighter he wanted to fight in the house for the semifinals. He backed off of that right after, but Dana White mulled over that idea before ultimately placing Dollar against Andre Winner and Dent against Ross Pearson.
In tournament format, the fight is essentially a third place bout, with Winner and Pearson facing each other for this season's lightweight title after besting Dollar and Dent in the semis, respectively. For Dollar, however, he hopes "there's a little bit more than just the fight behind it, there's the aspect that we don't really care for each other. So it'll be good. A lot of emotion in it, probably."
This won't be the first go around under the bright lights for Dent, who has appeared in the Octagon previously at UFC 63 against Roger Huerta and UFC 68 against Gleison Tibau. Dollar's more excited than nervous however, and he said he spent the weekend with Urijah Faber for Faber's fight with Mike Brown at WEC 41 on Sunday and got a taste for what it will be like coming out to the cage along with the crowd size, "that's just something that I love...it doesn't make anymore pressure, I'm just looking at this as an awesome opportunity."
As for Dent's experience advantage, Dollar's not bothered by that either. "He bleeds red just like I do, and he breathes the same air that I do, so it should be good. It should be fun."
The Ultimate Fighter season nine finale airs live on Spike on Saturday, June 20th, headlined by a lightweight bout between Diego Sanchez and Clay Guida along with the two finale bouts for this season of the show.
