The Ultimate Fighter report
April 21, 2010
By Frank Hyden
The episode starts with Nick Ring complaining at Jamie Yager for cheering for Brad Tavares, who's on Team Liddell, in the last fight. Yager doesn't want to hear it, though. Yager, Kyle Noke, Kris McCray, and Brad Tavares have formed a clique called The Minority Report. The name comes from all of them being a minority, whether it be skin color or nationality. Kyacey Uscola doesn't like Yager at all, calling him a POS. Chuck Liddell has control of the fights and he chooses Rich Attonito to fight Kyacey Uscola.
Kyacey is missing the birth of his child to be in the house. Damn, that's dedication. You got to respect a guy like that, who's willing to sacrifice whatever he has to in order to make a living. Kyacey is a really good wrestler. Rich is also a good wrestler, both John Hackleman and Chuck are confident that Rich will win. However, Chuck has a prior commitment and can't make it to Rich's fight in person.
Kyacey accuses Yager of stealing his sweatshirt. Kyacey's name is in the sweatshirt, thus allowing him to easily find it. The sweatshirt is in Yager's closet, but it turns out that Kris McCray put it in there. Kyacey is still pissed, and keeps yelling at Yager. Both guys proceed to yap at each other for what seems like years. They even yap at each other in the van on the way to the gym. Clayton McKinney makes a salient point that neither guy is really accomplishing much with all this talking. Amen, brother.
Tito tries to help out Yager and Kyacey. He sits down with them, and lets them air out their problems. It turns into another bitchfest, though, and they both chirp like crazy. Tito seems slightly bemused by the situation. Rich talks some about his wife. He's another guy who's fighting for his family. Rich and Kyacey both have something important to fight for.
FIGHT- Rich Attonito vs. Kyacey Uscola
Kyacey has a 3 inch height and a 1.5 inch reach advantage. Josh Rosenthal is the referee.
ROUND 1- They start with jabs. They trade a few shots. Rich lands a big shot that drops Kyacey. Rich is all over Kyacey, who can only cover up. Somehow, Kyacey is able to keep the fight going. He even stands up. Rich grabs Kyacey and dumps him on his head. Ouch, that had to hurt. They scramble around, with Kyacey trying for a kimura. Kyacey's in side control. Rich is still on his knees as Kyacey lands 2 big knees that hit Rich in the face. The ref steps in and stops the fight as they try to determine if Rich can continue.
Back from the break, Kyacey is disqualified for the knees to the head. Tito and Kyacey are both pissed.
WINNER- Rich Attonito by DQ
Kyacey vows to be back. Tito smashes another one of the UFC's cheap doors. That's probably why they use cheap doors, one of these coaches would hurt himself otherwise. Rich says he wanted to win the right way, but he couldn't continue. Chuck returns just in time to congratulate Rich. Rich probably broke his hand. He still wants to fight, though. The doctors have wrapped his hand up. Rich and Kyacey joke about both of them not being able to fight. Chuck announces that the next fight will be Charles Blanchard vs. Jamie Yager. Chuck thinks Charles will win. Tito is confident that Yager will win.
Chuck is coaching up Charles, trying to get him ready for Yager. He's showing him things to do and try against Yager, in order to counter Yager's awesome kicks. Charles is confident in himself. Team Ortiz is shown training. Tito is really hopeful that Yager will crush Charles. Tito is really pushing Yager to reach his potential. Yager is really working his stand-up. Tito is having him work on his takedown defense. At the weigh-in, both guys come in at weight. Kyacey is running down Yager some more. Charles and Yager both think they will win. Yager feels as though he has something prove. Actually, he doesn't. Not with what he did in his first fight.
FIGHT- Charles Blanchard vs. Jamie Yager
Yager has a 5 inch height and a 5 inch reach advantage. Josh Rosenthal is the referee.
ROUND 1- They start tentative. Yager throws a few jabs. Charles tries for a takedown, but Yager is slippery. Charles nearly gets a slam, but Yager escapes. Yager then crushes Charles with a huge right hand. He jumps on Charles, but it's all academic.
WINNER- Jamie Yager by TKO
The fights in the episode were pretty good. Yager's escape from Charles' slam attempt was great. Yager also really showed his power with this quick TKO. You may not like the guy, but you sure have to respect his fighting ability. Kyacey would seem to be the front-runner for one of the Wild Card picks. He took a beating from Rich, but kept coming. Then he started delivering his own punishment. The yapping from Kyacey and Yager got a little old, but I doubt it'll continue too much longer. At least, I hope not. I can't let that detract from a good episode, however. Yager looked great in his fight, and I wonder what they'll do about Rich's broken hand. Well, I doubt things will be dull in the house, that's one thing for sure.

"There's still a large contingent of people, that they just want to see these guys almost die, or the other guy almost die and come back, and sometimes fights are like that. Certainly they are. But sometimes you get technical masterpieces too, and to hate a beautiful, technical fight - you're not really a fight fan...
Diaz has a granite chin, possesses perhaps the best recovery in the sport, his pace and conditioning are second to none and he sets records with the volume of his punches almost every time he steps into the cage. "There was a lot of poison going on around there and I'm really disappointed because we had a good thing going. It was a good thing and I think people's egos got in the way. Well, not people just Javier, his ego got in the way, and too many cameras in the gym and him trying to build himself up and his brand, his AKA brand...
