We actually saw you on the broadcast this week unlike last episode! Rampage brought you in to work with Kimbo on getting out from being on his back and mounted, and with what was shown he wasn't able to buck you off or get through, was there more in that that wasn't seen that perhaps showed he was getting it or was he able to work through it?
He was starting to get it at the end but not very well. They also cut out all the wrestling I did with Kimbo before his fight with Roy. Kimbo had to learn on the fly, and all we could do was try and put him through a crash course, and he did the best he could do with the time we had to prepare him.
We got to see some of Marcus Jones' personality in this one, and he was pegged as a "softy" and said he was pegged with the name "Big Baby" while in the house. What were some of your early experiences with the big man?
He is such a nice and soft spoken guy. He is really laid back and he was truly happy all the time. He was like a big kid, every time he learned something new at training he would giggle, it was like he was a kid in a candy store.
The Kimbo-Nelson fight went about as expected, with Kimbo tagging Roy with a couple of punches in the second round but having no answer for Nelson once it was on the ground. What were your thoughts on the fight live and the feeling afterward with Team Rampage going down 3-0?
Watching it we all knew Kimbo had to keep it standing. As soon as it went to the ground we were all worried. Herb Dean kept Kimbo alive by not stopping it after 44 unanswered blows from the crucifix position. It was frustrating seeing Kimbo helpless in that position and the second round like you mention was more of the same. Going down 0-3 was very disheartening and we all knew we had to pick ourselves up by the boot straps and turn it around. The only good thing that happened was that the loss brought us closer as a team and we all focussed on the task at hand, getting control back.
Nelson has come out in the last week now and said he wanted to fight you first, and actually today said he wanted to get the "3 easy fights to the final." What's your reaction to that?
Roy is Roy, I knew he wanted to fight me instead of Kimbo because he said it right after the fight pick. It doesn't bother me at all that he said that stuff. Also, getting to the finals is the goal and 3 easy fights is better than 3 wars.
One other comment from Nelson was that Kimbo was more of a fighter than the rest of your team, and he said that the rest of you were scared to get hit. What's up with him taking shots at you on a regular basis here?
I do not know, and if you have ever seen me fight you would know I am not afraid to get hit or of anything for that matter. The thing is Kimbo is more of a "fighter" than the rest as he is a street fighter, we are all Mixed Martial Artists.
Brenden Schaub also said in his blog for this episode on MMAJunkie that the guys in the house kind of targeted you quite a bit for their ribbing, and said they had a calender with everyone picking dates on when you were going to crack in the house. Was it that bad for you or is that an exaggeration on Schaub's part?
It was that bad, you have a house full of alpha males and niceness was taken for weakness and targeted. It started off as people being stupid and as the days went on it became a joke. Wes Sims is the one who started it, James McSweeny just took it to another level; he was the only one who took it seriously. He is truly an ASS!!!!!!
