Kimbo started off the episode with some deep philosophical thinking, saying that he's always been ready to fight the enemy but being in the house is helping him find the "inner me."
Some of the guys talk about his fight with Nelson a "pay-per-view" worthy fight and one that both guys could have made a ton of money in, but they all agree he'll get more respect this way.
Kimbo says a lot of guys have a chip on their shoulder here, but he doesn't. Nelson said he's ready to make this his last hurrah and make the UFC his home for the next four to five years.
Keith Jardine comes in to act as assistant coach with Rashad's team. Rampage messes with him a little bit and says he likes Jardine. Rampage and Rashad get into it about Rampage fighting Jardine because he was supposed to fight Rashad and then Rampage Rashad didn't want that fight. Rashad said Rampage got his jaw hurt by Jardine and wouldn't fight him. Rampage then gets into it with McSweeney on his accent. He said McSweeney needs to take Rashad's nuts out of his mouth to talk to him.
Rampage talked about Kimbo being humble and willing to learn before they went to a training session with Kimbo. Rampage said they're working with Kimbo on him getting off his back as well as his takedown defense. They went to working on his mount defense with Zak Jensen as Nelson will have his "big belly" all over him in this fight. He said he bet Nelson hasn't seen his "little friend" in years.
Back at the house the teams were giving advice to Kimbo and Nelson. Nelson said if you count down your punches on a downed opponent a referee has to acknowledge it.
We get another Rampage training session out of the break and they're rolling and doing some other exceersises along with it. Marcus Jones comes up hurting and walks off the mat with a knee injury. Marcus says since he's been there he's had some good days, some bad days, and some I should go home days. Rampage and Marcus get into it about Jones being on the side with his knee and Marcus doesn't think Rampage has confidence in him. Rampage thinks he's sensitive, and asks him if he's on his period. They squash it and get back to training.
The guys rib Marcus back at the house about being sensitive. Jones says they call him "Big Baby" and he plays the role of the softie. He said he used to be passionate about dungeons and dragons as well as comic books and flowers. He talked about gardening back home.
Kimbo and Jones talked at the house, and Kimbo said he never got a big head about all of the fanfare he got from his youtube fights. Jones said he's never seen Kimbo quit or say "I can't," he's always heard him say "I want, I want, I want." Kimbo said he gets along great with Marcus.
At the weigh ins Dana White talks about Kimbo being ready to come to fight, and also says don't judge Roy by the cover, as he looks like he just came from every buffet out there but he's got one of the best skill sets. Roy weighs in at 264 while Kimbo comes in at 230.
Kimbo's teammates talk him up and say not to underestimate him coming in here. Back to a training session for Rashad's team, and his teammates give him credit for looking phenomenal in training. Brenden Schaub says this is a fight people would pay money for on pay-per-view. Rashad calls Nelson one of their best guys on the ground.
On fight day Nelson says they've both paid their dues and now it's time to bring it. Both fighters get ready to go and then walk out to the cage and it's just about time to fight.
The first round started off with both guys feeling each other out a bit. Nelson worked the jab early and tagged Kimbo a bit. Kimbo throws a good outside leg kick and then pops in with a couple of jabs of his own. Nelson tries to work his jab a bit in the first couple of minutes until Kimbo moves him to the cage. Kimbo lands a couple of solid punches before Nelson clinches and puts Kimbo's back to the cage. Kimbo tries to scramble but Nelson holds onto his double underhooks and keeps Kimbo's back on the cage. Nelson holds him against the cage for a bit before Kimbo tries to move out. Nelson takes the opportunity and pushes Kimbo back and takes him down, getting immediately to mount. Kimbo held control of Nelson on top of him until Nelson stepped over and put him in a crucifix. Kimbo tried to push himself off the cage but Nelson got him back to the crucifix. Nelson threw short punches from that spot for about 25 seconds until the round ended, and he took the first round decisively.
Slice wanted to throw some punches as the second round started, and he started with a quick jab. He circled back and then popped in with a good punch on Nelson. He landed another one before trying a knee and falling to his back. Nelson took side control and tried to lock the arm in for a crucifix again. Nelson tried to grab an arm but it slipped out of his grasp. He finally got back to the crucifix and just started throwing short punches down onto Slice and that was all she wrote.
Dana said Nelson on the ground hitting Slice was like letting his daughter hold him down and punch him, that's how hard the shots were. Rampage none of them could get that big belly off of them, it was like having the moon on top of you. Dana said Nelson did just enough to win and not get hit.
Nelson said he was glad to put on a show and he thought Rashad was seeing that he's probably the number one guy. Dana gave Kimbo credit for stepping up early on and said he needs to use the rest of his time there to learn and get better and he will be a better fighter when he leaves. Dana said it might not be the end for him as anything can happen on the show. Kimbo said it's a fight and a battle but he's got to keep at it and get better, as he's still a rookie in the sport.
The fight went about as expected, with Kimbo on his feet looking like you'd expect before Nelson got it to the ground. Once there, Kimbo had no way to get off his back and Nelson threw just enough, and just often enough, to get Herb Dean to stop the fight. It wasn't pretty, it wasn't great, but it was what it was and now they'll hype Kimbo as a possible replacement should someone come up injured this season.
The preview for next week hypes up Marcus Jones showing power before possibly succumbing to an injury which would allow Kimbo passage to fight again.
