Fedor_Strikeforce150_3.jpg
C.F. via Blackberry: I believe that Fedor should fight the Strikeforce champ next, but I don't believe the champ will be successful. Fedor completely out-muscled Brett Rogers no matter what others might say, plus he rocked him on more then one occasion. All Rogers did was jab him once which brought some blood and then landed a few punches on the ground which Fedor allowed to get the arm bar.

My Fedor dream match would have to be Fedor vs. Brock Lesnar just to see Fedor shut Lesnar down with a KO or arm bar. Cain might be a good fight, but I don't think he would take Fedor, and Carwin would get submitted quickly. Big Nog already lost twice to the Emperor and Junior doesn't have the chin for Fedor.

I think Rogers should face Big Foot now since they both lost. I don't believe Rogers deserves a rematch since he was beaten decisively. I thought Rogers fought well, but you could clearly tell that Fedor's skills were light years above. I thought the Strikeforce event was a great event and worthy of no. 2 status. Fedor is def the king!

***

Josh Golden via email: Okay, first of all I thought Fedor looked great! Aside from a jab and some ground and pound he couldn't do anything to fedor - not to mention he was gassed in under a round. That knockout punch was f---ing amazing! Tell me you didn't rewind it like 80 times to hear the thwap of the Last Emperor's heavy hand against Rogers' jaw!? I loved it! Rogers got dominated. I almost get the feeling Fedor could have ended the fight in the first minute of the fight if he chose to, but I bet he kept it a little exciting for the sake of the organization. So that said...

(a) Strikeforce has no one aside from Rogers who would have stand a chance at giving Fedor a fight. A rematch with Rogers seems the only sensible move unless Overeem comes back sometime soon.

(b) I would like to see Fedor vs. Brock because there is no doubt in my mind that Fedor would win. If he tried to stand, he'd get his face ruined. If he takes Fedor down, he'll get submitted. Fedor is just that, good damnit!!

(c) Rogers should fight Werdum. Werdum just won his fight, and he's the next biggest heavyweight name they have. I see Rogers knocking Werdums block off as long as he keeps the fight off the ground.

***

Brandon Lemberg via email: Allistar Overeem is the only person in Strikeforce who has a legit chance of beating Fedor, but I don't think he will ever come fight him in the U.S. I honestly don't even think he has a good chance against Fedor, but there isn't much to choose from.

My dream opponent for Fedor is Anderson Silva. When you look at Fedor, it is not hard to tell that he could cut to 205 with ease. I think that would be one of the best fights ever. It would be another fighter that Anderson would pick apart in striking, and couldn't really do much to him on the ground. I would love to see that fight happen at some point before I die. If Overeem does end up fighting Fedor, I don't have a problem with Rogers getting Werdum.

Like I said earlier, Strikeforce doesn't have much of a Heavyweight talent pool, so this is really the only fight that makes sense.

Serge Korepin via email:

A. Alistair Overeem, he is the best Strikeforce has to offer.

B. Brock Lesnar, so that people in U.S. will finally understand, too. So many times, over and over, I’ve heard people talk trash about Fedor. Every... single... time... he prevails. Hes already defeated Velasquez and Dos Santos equivalents. This is not new. Fedor can hold his own striking with the slower and less precise Lesnar, then they’ll go to the ground and Lesnar will gets armbared right away due to lack of experience.

C. Werdrum. Not too much other action. If Werdum can get it to the ground, there’s a good chance he’d submit Rogers.

You are invited to participate in our new "Question of the Week," which is three parts: (a) Which fighter who is available to Strikeforce do you think has the best chance to beat Fedo, (b) Who is your pick for a dream opponent for Fedor of all fighters no matter what their current affiliation, and (c) Who should be Brett Rogers's next opponent. Make your case for why Fedor would likely win or lose against the opponents you choose, also. Send to mmatorch@gmail.com. We will run responses in the "Torch Feedback" section this week.

"There's still a large contingent of people, that they just want to see these guys almost die, or the other guy almost die and come back, and sometimes fights are like that. Certainly they are.
