Jul 20, 2009 - 9:05:32 AM By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief Lithuanian Marius Zaromskis made himself the talk of the MMA world on Monday with a spectacular performance in the Welterweight Grand Prix at DREAM 10 to become the first DREAM Welterweight Champion.
He scored the upset of the night when a high kick connected on an already bloodied up Hayato "Mach" Sakurai that sent Sakurai crashing to the canvas, where a follow up flurry of punches sent Zaromskis to the night's Grand Prix final. After Jason High defeated Andre Galvao, the final was set.
In what was an even more impressive highlight reel finish, Zaromskis pushed forward early in the first round on High and connected with a head kick that knocked him out cold. It was a vicious finish that left High on the mat for several minutes afterward.
