Former Bellator Featherweight Champion Joe Soto hasn't been in the cage since losing that title to Joe Warren last September.
The 24-year-old suffered a torn retina that very nearly ended his career, but he has now been cleared to fight by his doctor, and according to MMAJunkie.com, he will return to action on August 4 at Tachi Palace Fights 10.
Soto will take on 13-4-1 Eddie Yagin for the Tachi Palace Fights Featherweight Championship on the card after Isaac De Jesus was stripped of the belt. De Jesus tested positive for marijuana after his most recent fight at Tachi Palace Fights 9. De Jesus was stripped of his belt after missing weight for his fight on that event, and he's now been suspended six months and fined $500 for his drug test failure.
The return to action for Soto comes with the blessing of Bellator, as he is still under contract to the organization. He'll look to get back on track after suffering his first career loss and being sidelined with the torn retina.
Penick's Analysis: This is great news for Soto. There was a definite fear that he could have had his career ended by the torn retina, so to now be cleared to fight and to be able to get back into action within a year of his last fight and that injury is fantastic.
