Former UFC lightweight Dan Lauzon, brother of current UFC lightweight fighter Joe Lauzon, was stabbed during an altercation outside of a Boston-area nightclub early Thursday morning.

He was reportedly stabbed on the top of his shoulder around 1AM. He was transported to the hospital following the incident, though the injury wasn't life threatening.

Lauzon was initially named in a report from local publication The Enterprise, though they later removed his name from the story. However, Joe wrote on his personal web-page about rushing to see him in the hospital, confirming at the least that he was taken there.

But, in rushing to his brother's side, Lauzon injured himself, delaying a trip to Iraq he was supposed to leave for today as part of a goodwill military tour. Here's what he had to say:

"A little after 2am, I get a call saying my brother was on his way to the emergency room. I rushed out the door and ended up rolling my ankle on the walkway, fell to the ground and then hobbled to my car. I got to the hospital and gimp walked my way into the ER and found Dan in one of the rooms. Luckily everything was okay and it wasn’t a big deal as was originally thought."

But while Dan was alright, Joe messed up his ankle pretty badly, and he ran down what's next for him now.

"Unfortunately, my ankle is way more jacked up than I realized," Lauzon wrote. "I had so much adrenaline going being worried about Dan, I didn’t even notice how swollen my ankle was. I went to the ER when I woke up this morning and got it xrayed. They said it wasn’t broken, but that it was a bad sprain. They told me to stay off it for a few days and no 'work' for a week… then I explained to them what I do for 'work' and they said no training of any kind for a little while longer than that.

"So needless to say, I will not be making it to the airport and heading to Iraq today. Hopefully I can walk on it better by tomorrow and I can get another flight out there, but it's not looking real good. I definitely won't be able to train out there, but I would still like to be able to do all of the Q&A, meet and greets and whatnot."

Penick's Analysis: Sounds like Dan's ok, which is great news to hear. But for Joe, he hurt that ankle pretty badly, and if you check out the picture at JoeLauzon.com, you can see just how bad it is. The swelling is terrible, and sprains can sometimes be worse than breaks. But hopefully he's able to heal up alright and it doesn't delay him returning to action for too long.
