In some disappointing but not all that surprising news, Tyrone Spong is out of another scheduled matchup due to injury.

The kickboxer and only sometimes MMA fighter was scheduled to face Jake Heun next month at WSOF 26 in the night's co-main event, but word of an injury hit social media on Monday night. Heun himself confirmed the injury loss of the fight, wishing Spong a speedy recovery from his latest setback.

Spong, 30, is a veteran of over 80 kickboxing bouts, but has fought just twice in MMA. Both of those fights came in the World Series of Fighting, and he won both fights nine months apart in 2012 and 2013. Unfortunately, a broken leg suffered in Glory kicked off a series of injury woes, this simply being the latest.

Penick's Analysis: Spong's injury issues are unfortunate and a little depressing. In an alternate universe he might be on his way to stardom in MMA. His striking out of kickboxing is the type of weapon unmatched by many in the sport, while his grappling thus far had been enough to avoid getting continuously taken down. We're unlikely to ever see his full potential because of these issues, not to mention his age, and it's just a shame that we find that to be the case.
