Jun 28, 2009 - 11:13:36 AM By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief WEC featherweight Wagnney Fabiano could return to action at the as-of-yet unnanounced WEC 43 event, likely coming in September, according to a report from MMAJunkie.com.
The 12-1 professional an 8-0 run from his time in the IFL, where he was a Champion, and his two fights in the WEC. As one of the topped ranked featherweights, and a teammate of Jose Aldo, Fabiano is on the short list of fighters jockeying for a spot at the Featherweight Title currently held by Mike Brown. He last fought in April, defeating Fredson Paixao.
WEC 43 is expected to play host to a bout between Donald Cerrone and Ben Henderson, which could possibly be for an Interim Lightweight Championship with the Champ Jamie Varner sidelined with injuries.
Penick's Analysis: Fabiano's ground game is phenomenal, but with his teammate Aldo being the flashier, seemingly more devastating fighter, there's a possibility he gets passed over for a crack at the title. That is, unless one of them decides to drop down to bantamweight, which has been talked about in many circles as an option for one of them. Either way he makes a good addition to any card just for the chance to see what he can do.

"There's still a large contingent of people, that they just want to see these guys almost die, or the other guy almost die and come back, and sometimes fights are like that. Certainly they are. But sometimes you get technical masterpieces too, and to hate a beautiful, technical fight - you're not really a fight fan...

"There was a lot of poison going on around there and I'm really disappointed because we had a good thing going. It was a good thing and I think people's egos got in the way. Well, not people just Javier, his ego got in the way, and too many cameras in the gym and him trying to build himself up and his brand, his AKA brand...
