By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief The official fighter payouts have been released by the Washington State Athletic Commission, per MMAJunkie.com, for the June 19th Strikeforce Challengers event from the ShoWare Center in Kent, Washington.
The full disclosed payroll was just shy of $200K at $198,500 with Joey Villasenor, Tim Kennedy and Jorge Gurgel being the top earners of the night. The full disclosed payouts are below:
Penick's Analysis: These payouts are right around what the payroll was for the last WEC event, which is certainly interesting to think about, considering what was on the line there with Versus in more homes than Showtime. Still, it was definitely top heavy here and Villasenor picked up a good chunk of change for the win. From a business standpoint, the lower payroll is very much geared towards successful events as they can build the Strikeforce brand without overpaying their roster.
