Former Bellator tournament winner Magomedrasul "Frodo" Khasbulaev will make his long awaited return to the cage this June, and it comes in the World Series of Fighting.
WSOF officials announced on Twitter Wednesday that Khasbulaev will take on former WSOF Champ Rick Glenn at WSOF 21 on June 5.
Khasbulaev has been out of action since beating Mike Richman at Bellator 95 two years ago. He's won nine straight fights, but Bellator officials claimed difficulty in obtaining a work visa for the Dagestani fighter as an explanation for his absence. He was ultimately granted his release by new Bellator President Scott Coker after they failed to resolve those issues.
Apparently WSOF officials have managed to do something that Bellator could not, and Khasbulaev will get a chance to once again ply his trade.
He'll take on Glenn, who looks to rebound after losing his title in his first defense against Lance Palmer. Palmer will defend that belt in the WSOF 21 main event against Chris Horodecki, and the event comes to NBCSN from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
UPDATE: According to a report from Marc Raimondi at MMAFighting.com, Glenn was forced out of the event just shortly after the WSOF announced the bout, and officials are seeking a replacement to face Khasbulaev on the June 5 card.
