For the second WSOF event in a row, one of their light heavyweight tournament competitors has been forced out just before the event itself.
According to a report from MMAFighting.com, Ronny Markes has been forced out of his main event fight on tomorrow's WSOF 20 card, and is currently in the hospital after suffering a bout of dehydration while cutting weight. Dave Branch will remain in that main event slot, now fighting Jesse McElligott.
The mini-tournament lost Matt Hamill just two weeks ago, with replacement Teddy Holder knocking out Thiago Silva in the first round.
Branch, the promotion's Middleweight Champion, moved up in weight for this event to take part in the tournament, which is supposed to crown the first Champion in that division. However, WSOF officials aren't sure if this will still count on that front or not.
The longtime veteran will now face the 24-year-old McElligott, who was set to make his debut in the organization on the preliminary card. McElligott is a 5-1 fighter out of Massachusetts.
Friday's event already lost one of it's other more well known fighters when WSOF officials pulled Melvin Guillard earlier this week. The event will air live on NBCSN from the Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Connecticut.
