"Funky" Ben Askren scored his second organizational title on Friday, becoming the ONE FC Welterweight Champion with a quick destruction of defending Champ Nobutatsu Suzuki at ONE FC 19 in Dubai. Askren needed just 84 seconds to score the win, taking Suzuki down immediately and beating him up with ground and pound from there.
The former Bellator Champ has given himself a couple of quick paydays now, having spent a combined five minutes and 45 seconds in the ONE FC cage through two fights.
Askren wasn't in the main event of the card, as that saw longtime lightweight vet Shinya Aoki defending the ONE FC Lightweight Championship with a first round submission over UFC and WEC vet Kamal Shalorus.
In other notable action on the card, Jadamba Narantungalag defeated Koji Oishi for the Featherweight Championship, Roger Huerta picked up a brutal TKO win with knees to the head on the ground, and UFC vet James McSweeney picked up a win by soccer kick as well. Full results are below:
