Following a week as a fugitive over the beating of his ex-girlfriend Christy Mack, MMA fighter War Machine has been arrested in California.
The Simi Valley police department released a statement on Friday after assisting the U.S. Marshals in taking him into custody. The man formerly known as Jon Koppenhaver was on the run after severely beating Mack and another man in her home.
Mack released photos of the aftermath along with her version of the events earlier this week, while War Machine remained at large. The Marshals and the Simi Valley police department received word he was staying at a hotel in the area, and arrested him this afternoon. He'll be extradited to Las Vegas to face several charges in the wake of the assault.
After news broke of the incident last week, War Machine was released by Bellator, where he'd been a part of the roster for the last couple years.
Penick's Analysis: Thankfully he's finally off the street, and hopefully he receives a significant and appropriate punishment for the latest in a long line of awful incidents.
