The World Series of Fighting is returning to NBC Sports Network next weekend with WSOF 12, but their next event now has a date and its first fight as well.
According to a report from Kevin Iole at Yahoo! Sports, WSOF 13 will come to NBC Sports Network on Sept. 13, and will feature WSOF Bantamweight Champion Marlon Moraes defending his title for the first time against Josh Hill.
Moraes, 26, has fought five times for the WSOF already, and captured the inaugural 135 lb. Title in March when he beat up Josh Rettinghouse for five rounds. The fight should have been stopped early on, and he let up a bit late after hacking away at Rettinghouse's legs with kicks to the point that Rettinghouse had trouble standing.
Now he'll defend the title against Canada's Hill, who makes his debut in WSOF proper after a knockout win over Mike Adams at WSOF Canada 2 in June. That moved the Ontario native to 10-0, and snapped a string of five decision wins.
Penick's Analysis: Anytime Moraes is fighting, it's worth watching, and it's interesting they're going the same night as a UFC event. Unlike Bellator's head to head with the UFC on Sept. 5, though, the UFC's show isn't televised that night. Rather, it's coming to UFC Fight Pass from Brazil. And honestly, Moraes fighting is absolutely worth tuning in for over Andrei Arlovski vs. Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva.
