Ben Saunders is heading to Titan Fighting Championships. The longtime UFC and Bellator veteran signed with the organization today, according to Titan FC president and CEO Jeff Aronson
"He will debut in a monster fight," Aronson said in an interview with MMAFighting.com. "I can't express how excited I am to get this signing done. Ben is the best welterweight free agent out there and the fans have been all over me to get it done."
Saunders was granted his release from Bellator late last year following a loss to Douglas Lima in a tournament final. He finished up his Bellator run with a 7-3 record. Prior to his Bellator run, Saunders went 4-3 in seven UFC appearances from 2007-2010.
According to Aronson, Saunders will debut on the Titan FC 29 card, which will hit CBS Sports Network in either May or June with a card headlined by Matt Riddle vs. Jose Landi-Jons for their Welterweight Championship.
Penick's Analysis: Saunders is a great pickup for Titan. Despite falling short to some talented fighters in the UFC and Bellator, he's always exciting, and is a valuable entertainment addition to any roster. There may not be a ton in the way of known commodities in Titan at that weight class just yet, but Saunders is always worth watching.
