...OH, ONE MORE THING - PLEASE BOOKMARK US & VISIT DAILY!
By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief Justin Levens, a 28 year old journeyman in the world of MMA through his three year career, was found dead along with his wife in their home on Wednesday in what Orange County Sherrif's Office officials are saying is an apparent murder/suicide.
MMAJunkie.com reported on this story first this morning, and spoke with Levens's former manager Ken Pavia, who said that "Justin was one of those guys that it seemed suffered from a lot of bad luck in life...I think the default setting for a lot of fighters is to have demons inside, and it seems like his demons escaped. It saddens me that Justin succumbed to it. He was an intelligent, charismatic guy and a good kid. In hindsight, you wish you could have done something about it."
Levens appeared in the UFC, WEC, and the IFL throughout his career, and was on the tentative schedule for Affliction's Banned event this past July. He lost his UFC debut to the late Evan Tanner at UFC 59, and competed in the WEC as well as in the IFL as a part of the Southern California Condors team. MMAJunkie notes that Levens is the second member of that Condors team that may have taken his own life, with the other being Jeremy Williams who died due to an apparently self afflicted gunshot wound on May 5, 2007.
