...OH, ONE MORE THING - PLEASE BOOKMARK US & VISIT DAILY!
By: Alex Williams, MMATorch Contributor After Dan Rafael reported on ESPN.com (subscription required) last Friday that Andrei Arlovski would likely be making his professional boxing debut in September on the undercard of the Joel Casamayor/Juan Manuel Marquez bout, word is out from Arlovski's esteemed boxing trainer Freddie Roach that there is no timetable for Andre's debut.
Andrei is a skilled kickboxer for MMA, but if he ever even boxed as an amateur, he was not distinguished. I can't think of anyone who has boxed professionally with great success who started at or around Arlovski's age (29), and if anyone has, he almost assuredly had an extensive amateur background. What is more, Andrei has never been known to have a sturdy chin--his three standing knock out losses (two of them against Tim Sylvia and Pedro Rizzo) speak to that. And while Sylvia and Rizzo may be heavy handed by MMA standards, the strength of punching in professional boxing is in a different league.
DON'T GO YET... WE SUGGEST THESE MMATORCH ARTICLES, TOO!
