The WEC's trip to the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH, on March 6th will be full of top flight bantamweight action; and aside from the Title fight in the main event, another major contender's bout looks to be in the works as MMAMania.com reports that former Bantamweight Champion Miguel Torres is likely to face Joseph Benavidez in his return to action on the card.

Torres will step back into the cage for the first time since losing his belt to Brian Bowles in a first round knockout in August. Benavidez, meanwhile, rebounded from his first career loss on that August card to Bowles' first challenger, Dominick Cruz, with a first round KO of Rani Yahya this month.

The bout is one that many were seeing as possibly an eventual clash for the Bantamweight Title before both fighters lost in August, as Benavidez had been on a run and Torres looked unstoppable. Instead, the winner likely finds themselves next in line to face off against the winner of the Cruz-Bowles fight that headlines the event. The card is set to air live on Versus.

Penick's Analysis: This is a great fight, and after Benavidez's knockout of Yahya he'll be riding a lot more confidence into this one following the loss to Cruz in August. Both fighters will be looking to shake off those losses and make a statement to either get back to a Title bout or get to one for the first time. Torres tasted defeat for only the second time, and the first in six years, and will likely have a fire lit under him for this one. This should be high caliber action, and along with the Title bout the WEC will be showcasing the best the Bantamweight division has on March 6th.
