Jens Pulver dropped his sixth straight fight on Saturday night in his first bout since being released from the WEC earlier this year.

Taking on Diego Garijo at the Powerhouse World Promotions: War on the Mainland pay-per-view event, Pulver was submitted in the first round for the fourth straight time.

Garijo came out swinging, and both fighters exchanged wild punches in the first 45 seconds of the fight. Garijo then dropped Pulver with a left and pounced on the ground. He locked on a quick guillotine and pulled guard, forcing Pulver to tap at 1:08 of the first round.

Fans and pundits alike have been calling for Pulver to retire over the last few fights of his career, but the defiant "Lil Evil" has said recently that he's going to continue fighting. Whether he holds that stance following this most recent loss may be another story.

Penick's Analysis: This loss was just sad to watch. Jens is so far removed from the "Lil Evil" of old and his fans don't want to see him keep losing fights like this. His last four fights have almost gone down in identical fashion, and as soon as the fight hits the ground it's all over for him. But this time, he was even beaten in his own area, as the fight went to the ground when Garijo dropped him.

Outside of his WEC debut victory over Cub Swanson, you have to go back to April of 2006 since he put together more than one win in a row. And while he's only got 14 losses in a career spanning over 11 years, eight of those have come in the last four years of his career, with only the Swanson win in there. He needs to realize he simply can't compete at a high level in 2010. Hopefully he won't continue to put himself through this anymore.
