The UFC's move to push their Montreal event a week back this May has officially been made the smart decision for the organization, as "Sugar" Shane Mosely has signed on to face Floyd "Money" Mayweather in what will be the year's biggest boxing attraction to date, according to a report from Kevin Iole at Yahoo! Sports.

The bout will be coming to the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas, NV, on May 1st, and is just awaiting Mayweather signing on the dotted line.

This fight came about after the fight everyone wanted to see, Mayweather vs. top ranked Manny Pacquiao, fell through due to arguments over drug testing that the Mayweather camp was demanding. Per the Iole story, Mosely has agreed to those terms and the bout is going forward.

The UFC had scheduled UFC 113 for the 1st initially, their return card to Montreal expected to be headlined by the Light Heavyweight Championship rematch between Lyoto Machida and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. Last week, it was reported that the event had been moved to May 8th in anticipation of this signing, and now that move looks to have been a prudent one.

Penick's Analysis: This simply makes official what was already expected, but it further illustrates what I noted yesterday, in that the WEC is making a big mistake if they're planning to run their first pay-per-view in May. This fight will be huge, UFC 113 and 114 will do big business during the month, and there's a WWE pay-per-view that month as well for those crossover wrestling and MMA fans that may purchase those as well. This is just a big pay-per-view month, and very expensive already for fans. We'll see what happens, but the WEC should really, really reconsider going to pay-per-view that month.
