Nov 22, 2008 - 1:20:12 PM By Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief Alistair Overeem and Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic will face off on New Year's Eve in a rematch of their September bout at DREAM.6. The fight was confirmed by Overeem in an interview with Cory Brady of FiveOuncesOfPain.com.
Their fight at the DREAM event ended in a no contest as Overeem leveled Cro Cop with illegal low blows multiple times in the first round. This fight will take place at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, as part of FEG's "Dynamite!!" year end spectacular. Also on that card will be DREAM's Lightweight Champion Joachim Hansen taking on Gesias “J.Z. Calvan” Calvancante in non-title action.
Overeem is currently the Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion, and has compiled a 29-11 record in Mixed Martial Arts. Cro Cop has a 23-6-2 record with one no contest coming into this fight.
