DREAM 5 Hit with Injuries

With the understandable excitement over the dueling cards on Saturday night, it is easy to forget that DREAM has an excellent event occurring in the next few days, too. The headlining matches are the semi-finals and finals of the lightweight tournament, featuring the trickiest fighter in MMA, Shinya Aoki, against resurgent UFC veteran Caol Uno, powerful American Eddie Alvarez versus one of the world's top lightweights, Tatsuya Kawajiri, and a collision between the winners of the bouts.

However, one anticipated fight has been cancelled and another may be soon. Kid Yamamoto, the top potential opponent in the world for Urijah Faber, has pulled out of his match with a torn ACL. Yamamoto was scheduled to battle Faber-stablemate Joseph Benavidez.

Additionally, the popular Hideo Tokoro may not compete after injuring his head and back in an auto-accident. Tokoro is slated to face Takeshi Yamazaki.

DREAM 5 will air live in the United States on HDNet early in the morning of July 21. It will be replayed on HDNet later that night.
