Nick Rossborough calls in today to speak with Torch Editor Jamie Penick on the Torch Audio Update. Rossborough has a fight coming up next weekend on the Adrenaline MMA III card that will air on HDNet. That card is headlined by the Tim Sylvia v. Ray Mercer boxing match and also features Rossborough's trainer and mentor Jeremy Horn back in action. Nick talks about training for an unknown opponent, feeling in better shape than ever, fighting on the same card as his mentor and his friend DaMarques Johnson's success on TUF motivating him to get back to a high level. Audio highlights:
On disappointments in the past and what's ahead: "There's some things that have built up inside of me... there's so much fire [June 13th opponent Keith Johnson is] another piece of the stepping stone to get back to where I want to be..."
On fighting on the same card with trainer and mentor Horn - "I asked for the opportunity to do that, you know; both me and Jeremy have the same manager, Monte Cox, and I was told he was fighting and so I asked him 'hey, can I get on that card too?'...I'm more stoked about that than I am the card itself or anybody else that's on the card..."
On his goals as a fighter: "Any organization that's willing enough to pay me, you know, to fight, hey I'm cool. I don't want to be a superstar, I don't want to be any of that I just want to fight for a living...DaMarques [Johnson] is giving me that extra motivation...that I want, watching him doing what he's doing."
Listen in to the rest of the interview for even more from one of the many fighters trying to make their living somewhere other than the UFC. And check Nick out on Adrenaline MMA III on HDNet on Saturday, June 13th.

"There's still a large contingent of people, that they just want to see these guys almost die, or the other guy almost die and come back, and sometimes fights are like that. Certainly they are. But sometimes you get technical masterpieces too, and to hate a beautiful, technical fight - you're not really a fight fan...
Diaz has a granite chin, possesses perhaps the best recovery in the sport, his pace and conditioning are second to none and he sets records with the volume of his punches almost every time he steps into the cage. "There was a lot of poison going on around there and I'm really disappointed because we had a good thing going. It was a good thing and I think people's egos got in the way. Well, not people just Javier, his ego got in the way, and too many cameras in the gym and him trying to build himself up and his brand, his AKA brand...
