"I actually called Joe Silva today asking for a fight, if I get the fight that I'm asking for it might be before that. I called and I asked him for Renzo (Gracie) because he's coming and he needs a warm-up fight, so I was like I feel like I'd be a good warm-up fight... I've met Renzo a few times and I think he's one of the greatest guys in the world. I've trained at his gym a bunch of times. I've got absolutely nothing but respect for the guy. I think he's one of the greatest ever, but that's why I want to fight him... He's a legend and he needs a warm-up fight. I'd love to fight a Matt Hughes (too), but he's not going to fight someone like me right now... I only want it out of respect for Renzo."
-Matt Brown talks to MMAWeekly.com about wanting to face Renzo Gracie in Gracie's Octagon debut.
Penick's Analysis: Brown would provide a good match up for Gracie, certainly, though he's not a large name yet and the UFC may be looking a different direction when it comes to his debut. Still, you can't blame Brown for at least trying to throw his name into the hat to test himself against a fighter he clearly admires and has respect for. It wouldn't be the highest profile debut fight for Gracie, but it wouldn't be a terrible idea, either.
