By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief "I'm kind of disappointed that a couple things didn't really go how I was working on...I think maybe instead of looking for that submission so aggressively in the first round that never presented itself, I should have just started doing damage earlier, but I was looking for a fun, dynamic finish...I missed a couple opportunities, and so I was kind of disappointed with how I did, but beggars can't be choosers, so I'm happy with the outcome, just not happy with my performance."
-Tim Kennedy on his Strikeforce Challengers victory to MMAWeekly.com. Kennedy defeated Nick Thompson via submission due to strikes.
Penick's Analysis: Athletes are often their own harshest critic, and Kennedy's playing that role here. He was superior in all aspects of that fight with Thompson and it was unfortunate that the end of the bout became a bit controversial due to a few accidental blows to the back of the head that went without warning or punishment. Kennedy still was the dominant fighter in that cage and picked up the "W." The Special Forces veteran is still technically in the Army, though he claims to be getting out of active duty to focus on fighting.
