"MMA is my profession, and I think in an MMA ring, [Ivanov] would have very little chance against me." - Fedor Emelianenko

The consensus #1 heavyweight in the world, Fedor Emelianenko, was interviewed at MMAWeekly.com, and he touched on his recent loss at the 2008 World Combat Sambo Championships to Blagoi Ivanov. The above quote were his thoughts on an actual mixed martial arts fight between the two, as he noted the scoring difference with Sambo. "I missed a throw. Sambo obviously has different rules, and in an MMA fight, if that were to happen, then it wouldn’t have been a big deal, but it’s a different scoring system and unfortunately, I wasn’t able to do certain things that I would do in an MMA ring."

He contends that Sambo's still just a hobby, and he is much more focused on his profession. Speaking of that profession, his next fight is coming in January against Andrei "The Pitbull" Arlovski, and he had some things to say about that upcoming fight as well. On his opponent, "One of his dangers is that he moves very well on his feet, a lot of fights that separate him from his opponents is that he moves very well and causes them a lot of difficulty."

This fight comes to you at Affliction's Day Of Reckoning show on January 24th in Anaheim, California, live on pay-per-view.
