WEC Featherweight Champion Urijah Faber appeared as a guest on Between The Ropes this past Tuesday to discuss his November 5th fight against Mike Brown (to be shown on The Versus Network), his win over Jens Pulver earlier in the year, and more.

Faber feels he is prepared heading into the cage with Brown this Wednesday night. “I’m definitely ready. It was a little bit of a blessing. I had some injuries and stuff that I had to push through and I’m doing better than I was before, so took the chance to heal up and be happy about it - even though I didn’t get my payday.”

Urijah spoke about his trip to Japan and says he enjoyed the experience. “It was great in Japan. Everybody was real receptive. I was surprised at how many people know who I am over there. They’ve got me in their magazines pretty heavily, so I’ve got a name over there. But yeah, it was good stuff. I think that’s a fight (with Norifumi Yamamoto) that needs to happen before I’m done and before he’s done. Just how it’s going to come about is the question.”

Faber commented further on his future opponent Mike Brown. “The guy is good. He’s the second-ranked guy in the world, so he earned his spot as the contender, he’s very well-rounded, which you have to be these days. He’s one of the bigger forty-five pounders, he’s a mentally strong guy. So, it’s just basically going to be who’s imposing their will, and who gets to play games first, and makes mistakes, and I’m going to make sure that I don’t make any mistakes and I’m going to bring my ‘A’ game.”

The California Kid is very proud of his victory over Jens Pulver last June and has the utmost respect for the MMA veteran. “That’s somebody that is really established in the sport … (It) made a statement to people and letting them know that I’m a well-rounded fighter and that I’m strong everywhere. You have to be that to be the best in the world.”
