...OH, ONE MORE THING - PLEASE BOOKMARK US & VISIT DAILY!
By Matt Pelkey, MMATorch Columnist
First off, my sincere apologies for the delay. I've spent the week with my in-laws in my living room and trying to adjust to a new (tiny) apartment. And on top of that, the system I've been using to add up the results has a bug that's yet to be fixed, and I had to do the old fashioned "add 'em up individually" thing. So, without further ado, the contest results...
Just as I predicted in my contest write-up, double champion Kubi's attention was spread too thin on two title defenses, and the consequences were steep. In the Prediction Title match-up, I, your humble host Matt Pelkey, captured a fourth Prediction Title from Mr. Kubi. Neither of us put forth our best effort, both going a pedestrian 6-5 on our picks, but my four correct rounds/methods were enough to unseat the champ, who could only muster three. A hearty congratulations to myself for becoming a four time (four time, four time, four time) Prediction Champion!
On the betting side, #1 contender Shaun Godric Louis left little doubt as he trounced Kubi, more than doubling his money while Kubi could only recoup about two-thirds of his $1000 endowment. Another congrats to Mr. Louis on earning the MMATorch Betting Championship!
In the pools, it came down to a head to head battle for both #1 contenderships between Torch contributor Rich Hansen and comments section connoisseur Dom762. Hansen came out on top in the prediction pool with a contest-best 9-2 mark, besting the 8-3 mark of Dom762, Ryan Wankel, and Lightning101. Over on the betting side, however, Dom762 narrowly edged out Hansen by putting $500 on Russow and $400 on Kim, while Hansen had $500 on Kim and $400 on Russow. That one little difference made all the difference in the world as Dom762 came out on top by a mere $45. Congrats to the new #1 contenders, and good luck. Its a quick turnaround to UFC 115 next week. The new champions will be ready. Will you? Full results follow:

Performer of the Night: As tempting as it would be to give it to myself for capturing the prediction title and turning a modest profit on my bets, longtime players know that ain't my style. This one is gonna have to be shared, though, by the previously mentioned Rich Hansen and Dom762. They were neck and neck in both pools and put up the top two performances in both contests, title or not. Nice work gentlemen.
Goat of the Night: Lane Bradford. Poor "Nice Guy". He was a contest worst 3-8 (by a full two picks!) with his predictions, and he was the only entrant to lay the goose egg on his bets, despite it being an underdog's dream card. Better luck next time Lane.
