Both our champions successfully defended their titles at UFC 111, as Prediction Champ Fernando Trejo bested both #1 contender Jordan "The King" McLachlan and Kubi, who cashed in his Money in the Bank title shot at the last minute. He thought it might help to turn around his recent rough streak, but no such luck.
Betting Champ Jamie Penick held off a strong challenge from top contender Mikey "Effin" Fritz in a battle that saw both men turn in decent profits. Congrats to both champs who'll take their titles (figuratively) to Abu Dhabi for UFC 112 in a couple weeks. But who will they face?
The pools both made for intriguing battles. On the prediction side, it looked like it might come down to a seven-way tie at 8-2, but former champ Scott "The Fountain of Youth" Hart blew past everyone with a near-perfect 9-1 mark. If only he wasn't fooled (like most of us) by Frank Mir's size, experience, and confidence. He moves on to battle Fernando Trejo.
On the betting side, it was perhaps the worst collective performance ever put on by MMATorch. Only three men (Jordan McLachlan, Scott Hart, and Tony Shuck) were even able to turn a profit, and they were modest ones at best. Seven people (SEVEN!) put up the dubious goose egg. In the end, The King's profit of $212.82 was enough to earn him the nod. After failing in his big to win the prediction title, he gets a crack at Jamie Penick's Betting Championship at UFC 112. Congrats!

"There's still a large contingent of people, that they just want to see these guys almost die, or the other guy almost die and come back, and sometimes fights are like that. Certainly they are. But sometimes you get technical masterpieces too, and to hate a beautiful, technical fight - you're not really a fight fan...
Diaz has a granite chin, possesses perhaps the best recovery in the sport, his pace and conditioning are second to none and he sets records with the volume of his punches almost every time he steps into the cage. Nick Diaz is simply designed to fight the way he fights, and not many other fighters are...
"There was a lot of poison going on around there and I'm really disappointed because we had a good thing going. It was a good thing and I think people's egos got in the way. Well, not people just Javier, his ego got in the way, and too many cameras in the gym and him trying to build himself up and his brand, his AKA brand...
