There were no titles on the line during Saturday's surprisingly fantastic UFC 108, but we had our usual two up for grabs here at the Torch. Jamie "The Boss" Penick wasn't able to defend his newly won Prediction title, dropping it to Godric 8-2 to 7-3, but he was able to unseat longtime Betting Champ Scott "The Fountain of Youth" Hart to win the Betting Title. Congrats to both new champs, and a nice round of applause for Hart's reign finally coming to an end.
We had close races for the #1 contenderships in both pools. On the prediction side, two entrants put out an outstanding 9-1 performance, with Paul P. outlasting Sam Matthew 7 to 5 on tie-breakers. He'll move on to UFC 109 to take on new champ Godric.
In the betting pool, 6 bettors finished within $170 of each other at the top, but again it was Paul P. coming out on top. He'll attempt to capture both belts in one night in a few weeks when he takes on new betting champ Jamie Penick. Results follow:

PERFORMER OF THE NIGHT: Easy choice. Paul P. put out the best performance of the night in both contests, including title shots.
GOAT OF THE NIGHT: Corry Porter. Not only did he go a second-worst 5-5 on predictions, he laid the goose egg on his bets, while only betting $600 of his $1000.

"There's still a large contingent of people, that they just want to see these guys almost die, or the other guy almost die and come back, and sometimes fights are like that. Certainly they are. But sometimes you get technical masterpieces too, and to hate a beautiful, technical fight - you're not really a fight fan...
Diaz has a granite chin, possesses perhaps the best recovery in the sport, his pace and conditioning are second to none and he sets records with the volume of his punches almost every time he steps into the cage. "There was a lot of poison going on around there and I'm really disappointed because we had a good thing going. It was a good thing and I think people's egos got in the way.
