Nov 16, 2009 - 1:12:55 PM By Matt Pelkey, MMATorch Columnist No champions were crowned on Saturday at UFC 105, but here at the Torch we did. Double #1 contender Mikey Fritz no-showed his title shots due to some unexpected time in the hospital, so your's truly stepped in to fill his void in both title quests. Unfortunately, Betting Champ Scott "The Fountain of Youth" Hart was able to successfully defend his title for the 43rd consecutive, but despite a sorry 5-6 performance in my predictions, it was enough to unseat defending champ Rich Boles who went a paltry 4-7. Congrats to me, now the three time (three time, three time) Prediction Champ! Also a congrats to Mr. Hart for his successful defense.
In the pools, Nick "Sent from my ipod touch" Underwood bested the rest, going 8-3 on his predictions. He'll move on to UFC 106 this weekend to take on myself for the title. Good luck Nick, you'll need it.
In the betting pool, newcomer Hans "The Berserker" Hoehn was one of many to turn a profit, but he was the only one who more than doubled his winnings. He earns the #1 contendership and will battle Scott Hart for the betting title this Saturday. The rest of the results follow:

Performer of the Night: Nick Underwood. In a night of fairly average performances, Nick won the prediction pool and finished second in the betting pool. Easy choice.
Goat of the Night: Rich Boles. Boles lost his prediction title despite his challenger going sub-.500 with his picks and tied for the worst performance in the betting pool. Rough night.

"There's still a large contingent of people, that they just want to see these guys almost die, or the other guy almost die and come back, and sometimes fights are like that. Certainly they are. But sometimes you get technical masterpieces too, and to hate a beautiful, technical fight - you're not really a fight fan...
