Well just as the main event of UFC 104 left a bad taste in the mouths of most viewers, the UFC 104 contests left a bad taste in the mouth of your's truly. As I watched the event, I was awed at how every fight seemed to be going exactly as I thought. I went 8-1 on the fights I saw Saturday night, and even after learning I had picked the Kimmons/Rivera fight wrong, I felt pretty comfortable with my 9-2 performance especially when considering I had an astounding nine rounds/methods correctly predicted. Much to my chagrin, Mikey effin' Fritz went a near perfect 10-1 to earn the #1 contendership. No worries, I thought, I still had the betting contest where I'd successfully hit on three of four bets, including two underdogs, and had nearly doubled my money. Surely that would be good enough to top the betting pool. Not so fast my friend. The same effin' Fritz nearly TRIPLED his money, hitting on every bet he placed. So congrats Mr. Fritz, you're a double #1 contender. But remember, if you fail to show (or if I somehow overlook your submission) I'M the #1 contender for both contests!
In our title bouts, double champ Scott "The Fountain of Youth" Hart only managed to retain one of his titles; the betting title. Its his 423rd straight defense of that belt, so for that we congratulate him. On the prediction side, Hart fell just short, being out-predicted 7-4 to 6-5 by the winner...and new MMATorch Prediction Champ Rich "How do I still not have a nickname for this guy" Boles! Congrats Mr. Boles.

Performer of the Night: Begrudgingly, this was an easy choice. Mikey Fritz was nearly flawless on the night, only missing one prediction, being perfect on his bets, and becoming the #1 contender for both belts, blowing away the competition.
Goat of the Night: Also an easy choice. Brian Murphy was one of three contestants to lay a goose egg in the betting, but what separated him from everyone else was his contest worst 3-8 on the predictions.

"There's still a large contingent of people, that they just want to see these guys almost die, or the other guy almost die and come back, and sometimes fights are like that. Certainly they are. But sometimes you get technical masterpieces too, and to hate a beautiful, technical fight - you're not really a fight fan...
Diaz has a granite chin, possesses perhaps the best recovery in the sport, his pace and conditioning are second to none and he sets records with the volume of his punches almost every time he steps into the cage. "There was a lot of poison going on around there and I'm really disappointed because we had a good thing going. It was a good thing and I think people's egos got in the way. Well, not people just Javier, his ego got in the way, and too many cameras in the gym and him trying to build himself up and his brand, his AKA brand...
