As is becoming the custom around here, we crowned a new champ at the Torch this past Saturday. Unfortunately, it was I who lost his title. It came down to the main event. I needed Tito to pull it out so we could go down to tie-breakers. It wasn't to be. Forrest Griffin's victory ensured my embarrassing defeat. Number one contender Nick "sent from my ipod touch" Underwood put up a slightly above average 6-4 on his predictions, but it was plenty good enough to beat my pathetic 4-6 performance. Congrats to Nick on winning the Prediction Title!
On the betting side, it was the same story as usual. Scott "The Fountain of Youth" Hart put his betting title on the line for the 356th time, and once again successfully defended. Number one contender Hans "The Berserker" Hoehn didn't lay a complete egg, but he failed to turn a profit and was nearly doubled up by the champ. Congrats to Hart on yet another successful defense.
In the pools, it was a battle between three contenders for both honors. In a rough night for predictions, 7-3 was the best number and it was put up by four men, so it went to tie-breakers. Comment section "Will" chose not to predict rounds and methods so he was out. It came down to Jamie Penick, Overkill, and Lane Bradford. Penick just beat out Overkill 6 to 5 on tie-breakers to earn the #1 contendership for the prediction title.
On the betting side, it came down to the same three men, with all three turning big profits. This time, however, it was Lane "Nice Guy" Bradford (new nickname, inspired by the fact that his emails are always really nice and polite. Its much appreciated) who topped the other competitors. He was the only person to not only more than double his money, but also to hit successfully on all $1000 worth of bets. Congrats Mr. Bradford! You'll be moving on to battle The Fountain at UFC 107. Good luck with that. Complete results follow:

Performer of the Night: This could really be a three-way tie between Overkill, Jamie Penick, and Lane Bradford, but if forced to choose one, I'll take Bradford. All three technically tied with their predictions, but Bradford's bets were easily the best of the night.
Goat of the Night: Another one that could be a tie. Both Tony Shuck and longtime contester Kubi went a contest-worst 3-7 on their predictions and laid a goose egg on the bets. Again, forced to choose one, I'll say Shuck. At least Kubi was smart enough not to use his "Money in the Bank" title shot on either of these clunker performances.
